Donate to a charity – this is an obvious one but such an easy and effective way to give if you can afford it. Don’t forget that a little can go a long way.
Volunteer – giving your time can be just as impactful as giving money and, in my opinion even more special because you get to see first-hand how you are helping a cause.
Practice a random act of kindness – one of my favorites to do is scrape off someone’s car for them when it snows. No one enjoys doing this, so you could really make someone’s day by doing such a simple chore.
Share your skills – are you an amazing baker? Do you love to hand paint ornaments? Are you handy with tools? Seek ways to share your talents with others.
Donate items you already own – this could be gently used clothing, non-expired can goods, etc.
Be a conscious consumer – when purchasing gifts this holiday season, challenge yourself to shop from ethical stores and stores that give a percentage of your purchase to help others in need. Some examples of these stores include Love Your Melon, TOMS, Wholesome Culture, Sevenly, Warby Parker and SO many more!
Participate in a fundraiser – there are so many opportunities to get involved with a fundraiser. One example is to run/walk to raise money with organizations such as St. Jude and American Cancer Society.
Give blood or sign up to become an organ donor.
Adopt a family – this is a great day to have a huge impact making someone’s holiday season incredibly special who otherwise would not be able to provide gifts for their family on their own.
Write a letter to someone who is serving your country. It’s heartbreaking to think about how many families are separated this time of year because their loved one(s) are serving overseas. Writing a letter to express your gratitude is an easy way to spread joy.
There are so many ways to give back, especially during this time of year. I hope this short list reminded you of how easy it can be to make a difference and inspires you to give in a way that is special to you!
