OCTOBER REFLECTION

October is absolutely gorgeous here in Michigan! The fall colors are actually peeking right now where I live and in-between all the rainy days has been some nice weather to get out and enjoy it. I’ve been in a bit of a funk this month but overall have enjoyed productive work weeks and lazy weekends at home. I am so glad I started this monthly reflection series last month because reading back on my September post, I realize just how quickly time does pass. I know this is an obvious statement but if you really stop and think about it, it’s kind of surreal. This was the only October I will ever experience as a 24-year-old. It was just here yesterday and now it’s gone. It’s impossible for me to reach out and grab time but it is possible to document memories and small details of my life and I really enjoy doing so. I have done this in various ways throughout my life, more often at some ages than others, but I am so glad I did. So, before I keep rambling about time here is what the month of October, 2019 looked like for me.

Where I went

To Target…about 10 times. Ha-ha yeah, travel was not in my agenda for October. I think the furthest I went was an hour east to greater Detroit area and an hour west to my parent’s house.

What I bought

A cream Sherpa top – I have three similar ones like this that I live in on my lazy weekends at home.

Brown booties – this type of boot has been a staple in my wardrobe for years and my last pair was getting warn out, so I decided it was time for a replacement.

High waisted jeans – These are a nice everyday kind of jean. I like that they are casual but nice enough to wear to work. They are a bit cropped but still appropriate for fall.

Eye drops – my friend introduced these to me and I have been using them every day since. My eyes get really dry and red this time of year and this brand takes all the redness away, I love it!

Where I ate

The Jolly Pumpkin – we eat at this restaurant year-round but it’s extra fun to go when the indoor pub area is decked out for fall.

Subway – I get a chopped salad from here at least twice a month for lunch. It’s one of the conveniently located restaurants near my work so it’s nice for day’s I don’t pack a lunch.

Plymouth Apply Orchards and Cider Mill – Nick, Leo and I had our annual fall date here and enjoyed some fresh donuts and hot apple cider.

What I watched

Living with Yourself – there is only one season of this show so far on Netflix, but it was a quick, funny and entertaining.

This Is Us – I have watched this series since it first came out and it’s by far one of my favorites of all time. I love the relationships between the characters so much that I’m sad they aren’t together in real life.

What I listened to

Podcasts: What We Said – I have been listening to this for a few months now and it’s the only podcast I actually look forward to new episodes each week. The host cover interesting topics and have a humorous demeanor.

What I accomplished

Starting a new category this month because I think this would be a fun one to look back on. Although I was in an emotional funk this month I got out of my fitness funk I had the previous month and started to enjoy my workouts again. I’m not saying waking up at 5:30 a.m., walking out to my cold car and driving to my gym in the dark is fun but I felt like I did a nice job challenging myself again in my workouts instead of just doing the bare minimum.  Another thing that was “accomplished” was having Leo neutered. We were advised by our breeder to wait until he was at least a year and a half for health reasons which is what we did. Although we felt horrible making him go through that and the healing process isn’t easy, we know it will allow us to take him to doggy day care soon and eventually get him a little doggo sister.

I really can’t believe it’s already November. I move on quickly from Halloween and love to jump right into the holidays so please don’t be one of those people that leaves their pumpkin on their porch until December 24th. That really kills my holly jolly vibe.
